Score 90-93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2009

(not yet sulfited) Bright red-ruby. Crushed black cherry, licorice and a whiff of menthol on the rather austere nose. Serious and primary, with a medicinal cast to the dark fruit and spice flavors. A rather powerful style but not lacking in perfume. Finishes long and strong, with solid tannic clout. This will be an ager in the context of this collection.
