Bright yellow. Very clean scents of lemon and orange oil lifted by a note of white flowers and accented by spicy oak. Juicy, fine-grained and not at all overly ripe, with its flavors of peach, apricot and lemon nicely framed by lemony acidity. Not especially opulent or fat--it seemed thicker from barrel a year ago--but shows a lighter touch than most of the Latour-Giraud Meursaults today. This wine is actually rather backward on the juicy, long finish. I like this!

(aging in Allier barrels with a stronger toast than those used for the Meursault Perrières): Cloudy pale yellow. Very ripe apricot, spices and lichee on the nose, plus a smoky element I did not find in the Perrières. Concentrated if slightly bitter-edged flavors of fresh apricot and peach convey a faint alcoholic warmth (it's actually close to 14%) without coming across as exotic. The sweetness builds with aeration but is nicely counterpointed by salinity and 4.6 grams per liter total acidity. Impressively thick premier cru but not as fine-grained as the Perrières.
