Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon rocks up with expressive crème de cassis, plum preserves and fruitcake scents plus underlying notions of dried bay leaves, crushed rocks, smoked meats and tapenade with a waft of black truffles. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated and laden with spice-laced black fruit preserves, it has a solid frame of plush tannins and loads of freshness, finishing with fantastic length.

Seven Stones is a tiny estate with three hectares of vineyards located in the hills of St. Helena, nestled within the Meadowood resort. The vineyards are mostly planted to Cabernet Sauvignon with the exception of a small parcel measuring 0.3 hectares of Cabernet Franc planted on shallow ash soils. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a huge wine bursting with dark fruit, licorice, scorched earth, tar and grilled herbs. This is an especially big, hulking 2009 that is likely to require a measure of patience. Massive tannins frame the fruit through to the virile finish.
