Deep, bright ruby-red. Pungent aromas of sappy red berries, black cherry, licorice and underbrush. Flamboyant and exotic, with deeply spicy flavors of orange peel and clove. Very long on the aftertaste. A great early showing for this normally slow-to-open zinfandel.

Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2003-2009, Robert Parker, Dec 2003

The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2002 Zinfandel Tofanelli Vineyard (300 cases; 16% alcohol) is tighter-knit than the two previous cuvees. However, in the glass it begins to rumble, revealing scents of macerated black cherries, pepper, autumnal/composty notes, and a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied, with fine underlying structure and zesty acidity, this is a full-throttle Zin to drink over the next 5-6 years. NOTE: This is an estimated price per bottle. Tel.
