Limpid ruby-red. Intensely perfumed, sharply defined raspberry and boysenberry aromas are complicated by suggestions of candied flowers, star anise and cinnamon, and a subtle vanilla note emerges as the wine opens up. Expansive red and blue fruit, spicecake and rose pastille flavors steadily deepen through the midpalate. Deftly marries power and delicacy and finishes extremely long, sweet and focused, with repeating red berry character and smooth, harmonious tannins. 25% whole clusters and 37% new French oak.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Rincon Vineyard was 70% destemmed and brought up in 30% new French oak. Black raspberries, violets, toasted spice, and plenty of foresty, piney notes emerge from the glass, and it has a wonderful sense of minerality, plenty of sweet fruit, and a great finish. Made in a fresh, elegant style, it's pure class and well worth seeking out. My money is on it evolving for 20 years or more.
