Tasting notes
Score 91/100 · Drink 2012-2017, Mark Squires, Feb 2013

The 2011 Branco, matured in 30% new oak, the rest in tank, is a blend of 35% Viosinho and 35% Rabigato with various other typical field blend grapes, such as Gouveio and Codega do Larinho. The oak hardly shows. Quite similar in theoretical style to winemaker Jorge Moreira’s douRosa and Passagem reviewed this issue, there are still some differences in this relatively steely wine. The depth here is very fine – although Passagem may be deeper. There are some herbaceous notes – although not as much as douRosa. It may well have the best finish of the three. It is beautifully balanced, fresh, clean and appealing, combining vivaciousness and intensity. It should be a big winner this summer. Drink now-2017. Importer: Winesellers, Ltd.; Niles, IL: tel.
