The colour is remarkably similar to the 1979. Actually it's darker! Fox red with a brownish rim. More fragrant and volatile than the 1979. Sweet and mushroomy but not as vibrant as the 1979. A bit fuller. Rich and mushroomy. The wine in this particular bottle was falling apart a bit, but this may be bottle variation. Funky and only just less showy than the 1979. Pretty damned good. (JR)
