Score 86/100 · Drink 2022-2029, Neal Martin, Aug 2022

The 1967 Pichon-Lalande has a simple, light bouquet, rather smudged, a little fungal in style and showing signs of chaptalization. Not a million miles away from the 1967 Latour but with patently less nobility. The palate is soft on the entry, slightly low in acidity, quite rounded and fleshy, easy-drinking and almost Grenache like towards the finish. Tasted at the "Difficult Vintage" vertical at the château.

The 1967 was best in 1975, when it had some charm, and just enough fruit to balance out the acidity and tannins. Not tasted recently, but given the light, frail character, the wine is most likely to have faded badly. Last tasted, 7/78.
