Saturated medium ruby. Slightly porty aromas of cassis, blackberry and licorice. Superripe and sweet but with sound acidity giving punch to the dense flavors of black fruits and violet. In a rather powerful style, finishing with strong, building, mouthdusting tannins but more aromatic persistence than the Spring Mountain District cabernet.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyrus Ryan flows from the glass with super-ripe dark fruit in an opulent, lush style that stands in contrast to some of the other wines in this lineup. Blackberry jam, cassis, sweet herbs and French oak are some of the notes that wrap around the lush finish. This shows impressive depth, but it isn't exactly the last word in subtlety.

Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. This is a very strong set of wines from Barnett Vineyards.
