2005 Pax Rosé of Syrah

This is a ripe, full bodied Cali rose that has just enough acidity to keep things interesting but if served too warm, can come across as an alcoholic mess. The nose shows nice complexity with ripe strawberry and cherry fruit but there's also spice, orange, mineral and earth notes in the background that give the wine additional depth. The palate is full bodied, rich, heady and with a lush texture and a nice, long finish. While this is certainly very enjoyable, it's not at all what I look for in a rose and lacks that refreshing, crisp note that really hits the spot on a hot summer afternoon.
