Score 91/100 · Drink 1997-2012, Robert Parker, Dec 1997

The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, made by winemaker Tuck Beckstoffer with back-up consulting from near-by neighbor Nils Venge of Saddleback Cellars, is a highly extracted, extremely rich, full-bodied Cabernet that will win many fans. Approximately 1,000 cases were produced of this dense purple-colored wine that reveals a ripe prune and cassis-scented nose with lavish smoky oak. Full-bodied, deep, and chewy, with sweet tannin and plenty of extract and glycerin, this is an impressively-endowed, supple style of Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for 10-15+ years. Since I tasted this impressive wine last year, the proprietors, the Getty family, have divided the wine into two lots, a regular bottling and a reserve cuvee. In 1997, a Chardonnay and Merlot will be added to the line-up. If I were a reader, I wouldn't hesitate to get my name on this winery's mailing list. Tel. (707) 944-1465; Fax (707) 944-0744
