The 2019 Cabernet Franc 29 Estate is straight-up incredible and ranks with the finest expressions of this variety in Napa. Giving up lots of red and black fruits as well as classic Cabernet Franc floral, chocolate, and even darker olive-like notes, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, ripe, polished tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. A blend of 95% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 75% new French oak, it’s not a blockbuster, and I wrote in my note that it has an almost Cheval Blanc-like sense of elegance. If you see a bottle, buy it. Unfortunately, there are only 240 cases made.

The 2019 Cabernet Franc 29 Estate marries strong varietal accents with huge fruit, all in a rich, heady style that will delight the Vineyard 29 fans. Mocha, dried flowers, mint, tobacco and incense lead into the rich, palate-staining finish. This opulent Franc is certainly a head-turner.
