Dark red. Slightly reduced, wild aromas of raw berries, cherry, milk chocolate, meat, mace and nutmeg; reminded me of a Vosne-Romanee. Then juicy and penetrating in the mouth, with tactile flavors of redcurrant, meat and tobacco lifted by a floral element. Impressively concentrated, ripe, dense California pinot with a long, chewy finish.

There are about 250 cases of the 2001 Pinot Noir Little Hill Vineyard. With a deep ruby color as well as a brooding, closed personality, it is no shy wine given its size, but it requires a few more years of cellaring. It possesses excellent purity along with abundant amounts of black cherry, strawberry, and plum-like fruit, a hint of flowers, but moderately high tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2012. Tel.
