Pungent aromas of grapefruit, pineapple and honeysuckle complemented by a note of vanilla. Broad and quite dry, displaying purer fruit and less coconut than the young 2008. There's a minty, chlorophyll-like freshness here, along with a flinty element, that gives the wine precision, and the acidity is nicely integrated. Stone fruit flavors are lifted by a floral note on the aromatic aftertaste, which shows a light phenolic edge. From fruit picked in August at 23o Brix, according to winemaker Philippe Melka.

Vineyard 29 produces a limited amount (under 150 cases) of an extraordinary Sauvignon Blanc reminiscent of a top-notch white Graves. The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most interesting Sauvignon Blancs I tasted. Made from 100% Sauvignon and aged 18 months in 100% new French oak, there is no noticeable wood in this French-styled white. Aromas of honeyed citrus, melons, figs, and honeysuckle emerge from this fleshy, rich yet elegant wine. It should drink nicely for several years. Tel. (707) 963-1619; Fax (707) 887-1688
