Bright, deep red. Reticent but highly complex scents of raspberry, rose petal, white pepper, red licorice and mint. At once silky and sharply delineated, conveying outstanding intensity without any undue weight. Utterly seamless Chambertin if a bit youthfully linear today. The very long, rising finish is lightly saline and classically dry. Fourrier told me he has no plans to produce more than 30% as much négociant wine as domain wine in future years.

Bright, deep crimson. So sweet! Much less dense than most. More readable and with masses of obvious fruit but masses of tannins. A caressing sort of Chambertin. Very distinctive. The fruit almost covers the tannins. Dry finish. Very satisfying undertow. (JR)

The 2013 Chambertin Grand Cru has a little more intensity on the nose compared to the Clos-de-Beze: blackberry, hints of seaweed and violets, very fine mineralite roiling underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins that lend it a silky texture, belying the tannins underneath the bonnet. This should be intriguing to taste out of bottle - all the constituents are here. Dec 2014, www.robertparker.com
