Healthy dark red. Rustic but energetic nose shows some distinctly wild nuances to the aromas of currant, black plum, leather, charred meat and woodsmoke, all lifted by a minty high note. Sweet, silky and fairly concentrated, with slightly funky redcurrant, eucalyptus and leather flavors giving the wine a distinctly cool quality. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins that turned a bit dry. Some tasters will find this a bit too sauvage .

Good deep red-ruby. Old-style, warm aromas of black raspberry, mocha and coffee. Good flavor intensity and grip in the mouth; sweet fruit is nicely framed by firm acidity. Faint suggestion of raisiny ripeness. Finishes with sweet, even tannins.
