Score 96/100 · Drink 2023-2038, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Oct 2023

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Valley is from Moon Mountain District (71%) and Sonoma Valley (39%). It's blended with 1% Merlot, and the wine was matured for 21 months in 100% new oak. The nose is pure, alluring and softly tertiary. Intense milk chocolate, truffle, dried mint, violet and aniseed complement a core of iron-laced black cherry. Full-bodied, it features Goldilocks ripeness—the fruit is not too ripe and not too crunchy. It's loaded with powdery tannins, and focused acidity drives a long finish streaked with flowers and spice. It's drinking beautifully now and will continue to mature gracefully over the next 10-15 years. 1,125 cases were made.
