The 2019 Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is still reductive on the nose but very fine, pure and elegant, with ripe but also coolish fruit intertwined with flint and woodruff notes. Very distinctive indeed. On the palate, this is a lush and elegant, highly refined and weightless Spätlese with great balance—a composition that makes you swallow it in a second. In fact, it is a very delicate wine that comes along like a dream of a Spätlese. 7% alcohol. Tasted from AP 1520 in May 2020.

AP number 15 20. TA 8.7 g/l, RS 88 g/l. Green, grassy aromas. Lifted and rather elegant and transparent. Strangely, this seems to finish dry! Very athletic and pleasing. Great balance and filigree texture. Long and haunting on the end. (JR)
