The earthy, foresty, cool climate tasting 2000 Pinot Noir Vista Verde (300 cases) offers hints of plum and cherry fruit, but overall this is a mushroom lover's Pinot (damp, mossy, forest floor, and underbrush notes). Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 433-6546

Good ruby-red color. Intriguing aromas of black cherry, underbrush, mushroom and roast coffee. Dense and strong in the mouth, with a distinct note of smoky torrefaction. Not especially primary but has real dimension. The interesting flavors reminded me of a wine from Morey-Saint-Denis.
