Score 97/100 · Drink 2028-2049, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2025

A real "wow" wine, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Darius II checks in as 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot that was brought up in mostly new barrels. This deep purple-hued effort boasts a monster bouquet of pure cassis and darker berry fruits as well as spicy oak, cedar pencil, new leather, and graphite. It's a powerhouse on the palate as well and is full-bodied, with a deep, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great, great finish. Despite its overall size and richness, it stays flawlessly balanced and has notable structure. Give bottles 3-4 years if you can and enjoy over the following two decades.
