(13.8% alcohol): Healthy dark red to the rim. Sexy, complex nose combines plum, currant, spices, oak char, coffee and sweet butter. Sweet, energetic and clearly delineated, with its dark cherry, spice and licorice flavors lifted by a floral topnote. Still a bit tight, but I doubt this will loosen up further. Finishes with excellent length. This very fresh, juicy midweight wine displays saline soil complexity and noteworthy finishing lift. (Unfortunately, my bottle of Freemark Abbey's Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Valley showed maderization on the nose and finished quite dry.)

Even more intense minerality than the Napa Valley bottling above. Chewy, dusty, beautifully balanced and long. A very eloquent terroir-driven wine. Very much a family of wines, this trio. (JR)
