Score 95/100 · Drink 2006-2013, Robert Parker, Dec 2006

The 2004 Syrah Timbervine exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with an expressive bouquet of blackberries, acacia flowers, charcoal, graphite, and forest floor. It is a big, full-bodied, aromatic, intense Syrah that should be consumed over the next 5-7 years. Previously recommended: 2003 Pinot Noir La Neblina (88), 2003 Pinot Noir Savoy (87), 2003 Syrah Timbervine (90+), 2003 Zinfandel Von Weidlich (90). Tel. (707) 887-8335; Fax (801) 340-6041

(50% new oak) Good bright ruby. Musky, brooding aromas of blackberry, licorice, minerals, black olive and smoke. Sappy, wild and concentrated, with excellent energy to the black fruit and flinty flavors. Like the Calinas, this is very dark fruit in character. Finishes very long, with dusty tannins and a flavor of bitter chocolate. This was superb in 2003 as well.
