Score 96/100 · Drink 2023-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2021

The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Belay is every bit as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Rich and explosive, with stunning inner sweetness, the Belay is a real head-turner. Sweet red/blueish fruits, lavender, spice, mint and hard candy lend captivating inner perfume. There is more than enough structure to allow this large-scaled Pinot to develop beautifully for many years to come.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Belay captures so many Radio-Coteau signatures. Then again, it is the estate wine, so it should. Brisk, finely cut and savory, the Belay is a Pinot of nuance and delineation. The 23% whole clusters add myriad shades of nuance. The 2018s give the impression they will drink well with minimal cellaring, but this is the exception. Patience will be key. What a gorgeous wine this is.
