Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2027, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2016

(15.2% alcohol): Full ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, kirsch and bitter chocolate, and a whiff of sweet butter. Sweet and plush on the front half but with nicely integrated acidity. Turns more serious on the back end, finishing with broad, serious tannins accented by fresh herbs. Still quite young, even youthfully withdrawn, but has excellent fruit for continued positive development in bottle.

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Erna Schein Cemetery ratchets up the level of richness and complexity. Dense ruby/purple with floral, blackberry and blueberry notes, it is opulent, fleshy and classic B & H style, with its power, big unctuously textured fruit, and a juicy, sexy delivery. Plush, heady, still young, but totally drinkable, it will continue to evolve for at least another decade.

Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with 17% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot, the 2005 Cemetery is a beautifully poised, elegant wine displaying medium to full body, sweet tannin, and abundant crushed rock, floral, black currant, and plum nuances. Given its good acid profile and firm tannin, it should evolve slowly ... over the next 12-16 years. Not yet released. Tel. 707-963-1774; Fax 707-963-8206
