Score 90-91/100 · Drink 2006-2015, Robert Parker, Aug 2002

The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon King of the Gypsies (250 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) was tightly structured and backward when tasted. It reveals good density as well as a classic aromatic profile of licorice, tobacco, and black currants with loamy soil aspects in the background. Additionally, there is abundant tannin in the finish, so patience will be required. While not a big Cabernet, it is elegant as well as noteworthy. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2015. Good full ruby. Aromas of raw crushed cassis, licorice, brown sugar and toasted, charred oak. Tightly wound and primary, with less stuffing and sweetness today than the 2000 merlot cuvees In a distinctly drier style, with firm acidity and a slightly edgy finish.
