From a vineyard site near the new Kistler plantings in the Bodega Headlands on the Sonoma Coast, the 2004 Pinot Noir Terra Neuma is a spicy, earthy, meaty effort that resembles a first-growth Pommard. It possesses outstanding richness and concentration as well as plenty of sweet black cherry and dark berry fruits, a brooding character, and hints of beet root as well as earth. This stunning Pinot should drink nicely for 7-8 years. (the first crop from young vines) Good full ruby-red. Wild aromas of black raspberry, violet, chocolate and meat. Densely packed, sweet and fat, but kept firm by an edge of acidity. The wild, meaty character carries through on the palate. Offers very good breadth and texture, if not quite the fleshiness of the Savoy. Finishes with broad tannins and notes of black raspberry and espresso.
