The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Revelation is another backward, tight 2014 that certainly bucks the vintage stereotype. Blackcurrants, charred oak, graphite, and earth notes all emerge from this medium-bodied, angular, yet nicely concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon that needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years to let the oak (hopefully) integrate.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Revelation has expressive notes of warm cassis and black plums with hints of pencil shavings, yeast extract, toast and fertile soil. Medium to full-bodied, solidly structured with plenty of fruit flesh, it has gorgeous ripe tannins, a lively backbone and long, layered finish. Still very youthful, give it a year or two more in bottle and drink it over the next 20+ years.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Revelation is laced with expressive dark cherry, plum, tobacco, incense, lavender and licorice notes. Sumptuous in feel, with soft contours and exotic aromatics, the Revelation is another super-impressive red from Captûre. The higher percentage of new oak here vis-à-vis- the Harmonie adds volume but at the expense of some aromatic freshness.
