This is crazily spicy, with an almost Sichuan undertone to the strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors. Full- to medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a firm, bright finish. Unique spicy character. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Akiko's Cuvée is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar. It offers notable depth, along with the energy that runs through all these wines. A bit longer elevage in oak emphasizes mid-palate density and richness. Succulent dark red cherry, plum, lavender, spice and new leather meld into the expressive, resonant finish. The blend is 40% Yu-Ki, 35% Gloria and 25% KR.

Coming from the Sonoma Coast, the deeper ruby-hued 2019 Pinot Noir Akiko's Cuvee offers a ripe, sexy nose of kirsch and meaty black cherries intermixed with plenty of baking spices, licorice, and sappy flowers. Juicier and lighter on the palate, it has an interesting mix of uber-ripe fruit and bright acidity, which throws off the balance slightly. It's solid but will be best drunk over the coming 3-4 years.
