Lastly, the 2018 Pinot Noir Paige's Ridge is the smallest production release (576 bottles) and was all destemmed, fermented in oak (the other Pinot Noirs were fermented in stainless steel) and aged 15 months in new French oak. Almost opaque ruby/purple, it delivers a monster-sized bouquet of black raspberries, orange blossom, Asian spices, and graphite. With plenty of background oak, full-bodied richness, incredible purity of fruit, and a great, great finish, this is certainly not for the Burg-only crowd out there, yet the texture, balance, and power paired with elegance is straight-up sensational. Drink bottles any time over the coming decade or so.
The 2018 Pinot Noir Paige's Ridge is a two barrel selection and the smallest production wine at Wayfarer. Bright and explosive in the glass, the 2018 possesses tremendous energy, nuance and breadth. Gravel, sage, mint, lavender and inky dark fruit all run through this super-expressive, sculpted Pinot. A wine of energy and delineation, the 2018 has it all. What a gorgeous wine it is.
