Tasting notes
Score 90+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2005

Saturated bright ruby. Black fruits, licorice and a hint of band-aid on the nose, lifted by notes of violet and orange peel. Densely packed and intense, but rather closed today, even a bit brutal, owing to edgy, clenched acids. With air, this revealed notes of chocolate, tobacco and flowers. A juicy, very backward cabernet that may well merit a higher score with several years of additional bottle aging. Give this plenty of time in a decanter if you plan to open it soon.

The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a dense purple color along with a big, sweet nose of blackberries, blueberries, and flowers (acacias and violets). Low in acidity, with an opulent, voluptuous texture as well as great fruit, purity, and density, this beauty can be drunk now and over the next 10-12 years. Tel. (707) 738-8742
