Deep crimson with even some purple notes still in there. Pretty closed on the nose still. Much more obvious weight on the palate than the 2004 with refreshing ripe tannins and real impact – even a little bit of lively acidity, which is fairly unusual for a 2003 burgundy. Lots of grit and grist. Even if subtlety is not a strong point. Alcohol is obvious but far from domineering. Exceptionally well done for a 2003 village wine. More of a dramatic hit than something terribly cerebral. 14.5% – quite something in Burgundy! (JR)

Medium red. Expressive nose combines strawberry, mocha, brown spices and smoked meat. Supple, fat and rich if a bit reduced, with notes of cinnamon, mocha and sweet oak. Finishes with substantial sweet tannins.

Red-ruby. Pure aromas of black fruits, violet, pepper and brown spices. Dense, sweet and spicy, with ripe flavors of berries, pepper and minerals. But not at all over the top.
