Good medium red. Sexy, expressive aromas of redcurrant, tobacco, dried herbs, rose petal and mellow oak. Silky-sweet and creamy-rich, with red fruit flavors complicated by exotic spices and notes of tobacco and earth. Doesn't have quite the grip of the most serious 2010s but the sweetly oaky finish displays excellent length and rather easygoing tannins.

(100% new oak): Good full, deep red. Ripe strawberry, raspberry, blood orange and exotic spices on the nose; the aromas turned darker as the wine opened in the glass. Intense, pure and deep, with lovely lift to the cherry and spice flavors. Finishes lacy and long, with a firm tannic spine for aging.
