The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard bursts from the glass with juicy dark red fruit. Supple, silky and easygoing, the 2010 nevertheless possesses plenty of underlying acidity and structure. Hints of cinnamon, cloves and dried flowers add lift on the dense, intense finish. The 2010 is ripe, juicy and totally irresistible.

Proprietors Thomas Rivers Brown and Genevieve Marie Welsh are among the most energetic and passionate young producers in Napa Valley. Although Brown also makes wines for a number of high-flying properties, he is more than happy to keep the prices of his own wines very reasonable, one of the many reasons Rivers-Marie is a mainstay in my cellar. The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard wraps around the palate with an array of dark red berries, licorice and violets. This is a relatively understated Panek. Juicy, finessed tannins round out the seamless, polished finish.
