Score 93+/100 · Drink 2019-2026, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Feb 2015

(14.9% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Slightly high-toned aromas of red and darker berries, plum, licorice, mocha, caramel and dark chocolate are complicated by alluring brown spices. Superconcentrated and verging on liqueur-like, offering dense, brooding, lightly saline flavors of plum, currant, dark chocolate and roasted nuts. Youthfully medicinal today rather than sweet. This remarkably plush, thick, palate-saturating wine will need time to burn off some of its baby fat. I've been a bit resistant to this superripe style in past vintages, but I have to say that my recorked bottle showed more shape and grip with 48 hours in the refrigerator.
