Yellow plum and white peach are laced with lemon, salt and piquant crunchy yet tender sprouts and shoots of myriad edible plants. The citric concentration here almost makes me wince, yet there is enough buffering thanks to palpably high extract; more-than-generous lusciousness of pit fruits; and, in paradigmatic Alzinger fashion, transparency to myriad mineral and herbal nuances that impinge with kaleidoscopic complexity. Vibrantly bright and penetratingly persistent, the saliva-inducingly saline, shimmeringly mineral finish incorporates a peppery bite and glowingly cyanic intensity of fruit pit, yet bitterness never gets out of hand, nor is infectious juiciness in the least impeded.

Rich, ripe, fruit-driven and concentrated on the nose is the pineapple-flavored 2013 Riesling Smaragd Loibenberg. On the palate this is a rich, dense and powerful wine with a juicy finish. More sensual then the Steinertal and surely possessing further potential.
