Score 95/100 · Drink 2016-2036, Robert Parker, Dec 2015

The Cabernet Sauvignons started with the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. This is a beautiful wine, as most of the top 2012s tend to be, with a dramatic and accessible, fragrant nose of blackberry and cassis, some licorice, new oak and spice. The color is dense purple, and the wine has a full-bodied, beautiful texture and a long, long finish.

A dark, sumptuous beauty, Marciano's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is built on texture, volume and raciness. There is plenty of vintage 2012 radiance in the glass. Black cherry jam, mocha, espresso, menthol and spices flesh out as this effortless wine shows off its personality. At times the alcohol is a bit prominent, but this is nevertheless a fine showing.
