Billed by TWS as a ‘fun alternative to Sauvignon Blanc’ and recommended by buyer Marcel Orford-Williams as a match for fruit salad or asparagus. 100% Scheurebe, harvested 30 September. Fermentation then six months’ ageing in stainless steel. Bottled 7 May 2020. RS 3.8 g/l, TA 6.4 g/l, SO 2 total 91 mg/l, SO 2 free 39 mg/l. Beautifully stinky but pretty dry on the end. Not as gorgeous as old vintages of this wine that I remember. Younger vines? (JR)

The yellow-grapefruit nose is so attractive and this has so much charm that it’s hard to resist. However, this is only medium-bodied and decisively dry with a touch of grapefruit-bitterness at the fresh long finish. Very food-friendly. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Haardt Scheurebe is intense on the aromatic nose and offers crushed stone notes with aromas of rhubarb, pink grapefruit, green olives and crushed herbs. On the palate, this Scheu is intense, juicy and almost mouthfilling but doesn't develop length. The mouthfeel is attractive for those who need it, but for me, the more filigreed and refined style is the estate wine MC. Tasted in April 2020.
