Score 90/100 · Drink 2003-2006, Robert Parker, Dec 2003

The 2001 Chardonnay Charles Ranch’s evolved medium gold color is followed by a big, buttery popcorn, citrus oil, and smoke-scented bouquet. Revealing less complexity than the 2002, it is an opulent, rich, concentrated, full-throttle Chardonnay to enjoy over the next 2-3 years. (Release date 2/04) Tel. (707) 525-0570; Fax (707) 525-0570

Pale hazy yellow. Aromas of yellow fruits, lemon, coconut and honey. Sweet, fat and lush, with slightly warm, intense flavors of beeswax and citrus fruits. Conveys an impression of high pH. Finishes smoky and long.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
