(this vineyard above Meadowood Resort in St. Helena also makes up the core of the DRII bottling): Good deep red. Cassis, black cherry and minerals on the nose. Supple and fine-grained, with a pliant texture to the sweet red fruit flavors. Showing more personality today than the DRII, but the building tannins also display a rather uncompromising quality.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Moose Valley fleshes out nicely on the mid-palate and finish. This shows a little more delineation and focus than the 2008, with sweet floral notes that add complexity to the dark fruit. Spice, leather and licorice nuances add further complexity.
