As good as the 2022 is, Arietta's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon 88 Keys—a minuscule selection from the Meteor Vineyard in Coombsville—is a bit more classically styled. Restrained and composed, its cassis fruit accented by cigar-box complexities, it's full-bodied and concentrated but simultaneously silky and refined, finishing long and elegant. Both vintages are worth having in your cellar.

From the best rows in the Meteor vineyard in Coombsville and made by Andy Erickson. Aged for 28 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Just 889 bottles produced. Very deep purplish crimson. Very lifted, ‘cool’, sophisticated nose and more concentrated by far than the regular Cabernet with a strong tannic charge on the long finish. Not nearly such fun to drink now but clearly with lots of potential. Straight into the cellar with this extremely ambitious wine, please! (JR)
