Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2024, Robert Parker, Dec 2015

The 2013 Proprietary Red La Castellana is a bend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot. A real successful effort of this blend, the wine shows cedar wood, tobacco leaf, blackcurrants and ripe black cherry in a medium to full-bodied, lush, savory, complex style. Drink it over the next 5-8 years.

The 2013 La Castellana shows its typical soft fruit, but is a bit darker and more tannic in this vintage, which is a characteristic of the year across the board. Dark blue and black stone fruits, graphite, spices and new leather blossom in a sexy, impeccably balanced wine with tons of near and medium-term appeal. La Castellana is the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Sangiovese blend.
