Score 96/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2021 Pinot Noir La Rinconada R22, matured in 100% new oak, is powerful, dynamic and offers tremendous layering and purity. It opens with intense raspberry, red cherry and pomegranate and goes on to reveal nuances of pipe tobacco, dried herbs and lavender. The medium-bodied palate has a frame of chalky tannins and juicy bursts of acidity structuring its concentrated core of fruit, and it has a long, fragrant finish. You could drink this now or let it develop in the cellar over the next 10-15 years.

Broad and fresh and smooth with lots of personality – so long as you like acidity! (JR)

The 2021 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard R22 is one of the highlights in this range from Justin Willett. The purity of the fruit is just striking in this deep, voluptuous Pinot. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, mint, rose petal and exotic spice build into the sumptuous, racy finish. The 2021 exudes tremendous depth, along with clean, saline notes that frame it all beautifully.
