Score 94/100 · Drink 2022-2032, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Mar 2022

Pale ruby-purple, the 2019 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard has slowly emerging scents of dried violet, cranberry and blueberry with nuances of licorice and saline. The palate is intense and powerful, with loads of chalky tannins, seamless freshness, iron-like mineral character and an uplifted finish.

The 2019 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard R22 is hands down one of the wines of the vintage in Santa Barbara in 2019. Sensual and exotic, the 2019 opens with the most vivid, breathtaking aromas imaginable. Bright red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint, spice, rose petal and lavender build as this dazzling Pinot shows off its personality. All I can say is what a wine! R22 is the first block at La Rinconada Justin Willet worked with, going back to 2013. Don't miss it. Sadly there are just two barrels to go around.
