Coming all from Rutherford, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beauty and a small step up over the 2018. Ripe currants, cassis, scorched earth, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil all define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a wonderful sense of purity and freshness, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This is classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon done with a terrific mix of richness and finesse. It's going to cruise for 15 years.

A worthy successor to the splendid 2018 (96 points), Stalworth's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon comes across as slightly riper and more black-fruited. Cassis and black cherries join more savory tones of dark loam and black olives on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated, rich and velvety. It might lack some of the brightness and vivacity of the 2018, but it's still a standout.

This is a tight and focused red with a potpourri of flowers and fruit. Lavender and other flowers. Full-bodied, yet reserved and together, with such fine, silky tannins. Bright and fine-tuned. Precise. Haute-couture wine here. So delicious and so precise. Long finish. Blend of 97% cabernet sauvignon, 2% petite verdot and 1% malbec. Drink or hold.
