My favorite of the 2014s was the 2014 Minervois les Carretals and it’s one of the best examples of pure Carignan coming out of the Languedoc. Brought up all in barrel, it has fabulous notes of violets, leather, salty minerality and plums to go with a medium-bodied, ultra-pure, balanced, lengthy style on the palate. I continue to be amazed at the purity of fruit Anne is able to get in her wines, and this terrific 2014 will keep for a decade.

About the producer
Anne Gros is better known for her estate in Vosne-Romanée, as is her partner Jean-Paul Tollot for his family’s Domaine Tollot-Beaut in Chorey-lès-Beaune. Beyond Burgundy, however, the duo makes some impressive wine in Cazelles in the Minervois, working with higher-altitude vineyards.
