The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District is a blend of three sites in the appellation. It offers up copious inky blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, chocolate and sweet spice. Even with all of its intensity, the 2018 is bright, vibrant and full of energy.

Lots of perfumed red and black fruits, spice box, dried flowers, and scrub brush-like herbal notes emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District, a deep ruby/purple-hued Cabernet Sauvignon that's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, layered mouthfeel, notable purity, and a great finish. I love the mid-palate on this beauty, and it's classic 2018 with its more structured, focused style. There's not much baby fat here, and it's a serious wine that will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age.

A barrel sample blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, the opaque purple-black colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District features baked cherries, mulberries, blueberry compote and tobacco with touches of wild sage and underbrush. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy with plenty of juicy black fruit and an herbs-laced finish.
