The 2014 Syrah Majik Vineyard has certainly improved over the last year, although it remains a bit compact, even within the Wind Gap style that favors freshness. The flavors are distinctly red-toned and citrus driven.

Dried rose petals, mint, sweet red cherries, lavender and white pepper are some of the notes that lift from the glass in the 2013 Syrah Majik Vineyard. This is an unusually bright, tense wine from Majik, with plenty of bright red cranberry, orange peel and floral notes. The 2013 is pretty if taken on its own terms, but this fruit feels not fully developed as though it was picked too early.
