(blended with 8% each petit verdot and cabernet franc): Good bright ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, licorice and violet. In a distinctly tighter style than the Heavyweight; in fact, even a bit musclebound and clenched today, with substantial tannins giving the finish a distinctly drier quality in spite of a strong chocolate element. Where will this go in bottle?

The Cabernet Sauvignon-based 2009 The Knockout is a very appropriately named wine. It won't win any contests for subtlety, but the wine delivers tons of fruit in a rich, hedonistic style. Layers of fruit flow through to an equally bombastic finish. Despite its richness, the wine has fabulous balance. Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc (8% each) round out the blend.
