Vivid ruby-red. Powerful, mineral-tinged cherry and red berry scents, backed by a hint of leather. Fleshy and broad on entry and then more taut in the middle, offering raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that turn sweeter on the back half. Shows good focus and lift on the gently tannic finish, which leaves behind notes of floral pastille and game.

La Crousroute, Le Grand Coulet, Petites Serres, Les Serres. pH 3.63, TA 3.64 g/l. 90% Grenache, 10% Syrah. Destemmed. Vinified in stainless steel. Aged in cement tank. Tasted blind. Blackish ruby. Not much nose. Rather jewelly and sweet and fresh on the palate though with some dusty, then rather drying, tannins on the end. Thick rather than dense – maybe a tad heavy and alcoholic. (JR)
