The 2019 Ones Syrah has incredible nuance and detail even at this very early stage. Vibrant ruby-purple in color, aromas of spicy blackberries and cherries unfold to layers of earth, cardamom and violet, gaining depth with time in the glass. The palate balances full fruit and intensity with detailed spicy accents, delivered on a velvety, seamless frame and finishing layered and long. It's beautiful to drink now if you enjoy a youthful Syrah but is a great candidate for long-term cellar aging.

The 2019 Syrah Ones is another monster of a wine that sports a deep purple hue as well as pure cassis and blackberry fruits, notes of violets, creamy oak, and ground pepper, full-bodied richness, and a great, great finish. It shows more floral notes with time in the glass, has incredible purity and beautiful tannins, all making for an incredibly good Syrah to enjoy over the coming 15 years. Eric Jensen continues to tweak the style of these wines, and today the wines play in the much more elegant, streamlined end of the spectrum while still bringing plenty of classic Paso Robles fruit and texture. Alcohol levels are almost all under 14.5%, yet the tannins are ripe, and the wines have solid mid-palate density, integrated acid levels, and straight-up terrific overall balance. These all required plenty of air to show at their best, and I don’t think there’s a wine reviewed that won’t benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age.
